Online Needle Tatting Workshop

Join us for this special one day workshop to learn the art of needle tatting taught by Meryl Hajek. In this workshop, you will learn the basics of needle tatting- using a thin thread and a long needle to make beautiful decorative lace. 

 

The skills taught include: setting up and holding the needle and thread; making the “double stitch”; creating and joining picots; forming chains and rings; how to read a written pattern; how to read a charted pattern; finishing techniques.  Class will also include a brief history of tatting as well as antique and vintage examples.

 

Space is limited to a maximum of 8 students for this class so sign up early!

Prerequisite skills

No prerequisite skills are necessary although previous thread work experience could be helpful. Come with your curiosity and readiness to learn a fun new skill!

Meryl Hajek is an avid fiber artist and handwork teacher from New Jersey, she works with adults and youth at her local yarn store. She loves to teach crochet, knitting, tatting, embroidery and mending.  Meryl says, the best part of her job is seeing how proud students are of their projects and how capable they feel when they learn something new!
