Expanding Horizons: The Unexpected Benefits of New Perspectives
When we join together across borders, cultures, religions, and learning environments with a shared impulse to deepen our understanding of the foundations of Waldorf education, we expose ourselves to new ideas and viewpoints. We often approach challenges with fresh innovation. Different perspectives allow us to combine ideas in unique ways, fostering creative solutions to meet the individual needs of the children in our care.
This is one of the founding principles of the Waldorf Handwork Educators Online International Teacher Development Program. By coming together with colleagues from around the world, we not only deepen our understanding of the how, when, and why of teaching handwork, we open ourselves up to new ideas and fresh perspectives through sharing and collaboration.
There cannot be a one-size-fits-all curriculum. Joining together diverse cultures and learning environments calls us to do the deeper work of boiling it all down to the true essence. Together, we explore the universal truths of Waldorf handwork education. And from there, we explore ways to meet the unique needs of each child, in their unique location, culture, community, and learning environment.
